Supporting our Community

Years ago the Public House was seen as the centre of the Community.

It provided a warm and welcoming meeting place and hosted

many a birthday, wedding and at times funerals.

It was a place where you could meet your girlfriend and

have a pint and a meal, or even see a live band.

That’s what we stand for at The Copt Hill.

Bring Back the Great British Pub !!

Our policy is to return the goodwill that we receive from or local community

by supporting as an example: local charity fundraising events.

Margaret Scrafton makes beautiful hand made cards
to suit all occasions. Margaret comes to OAP days out
and kindly sells her cards at discount prices.

Sportsmans Dinner

We’ve organised a great evening for
Friday 10th February 2012. We are
thrilled to announce that regular
and Sunderland legend Eric Gates
will be presenting our very first
Sportsmans Dinner.
Eric Gates will be supported by former Sunderland legends and
comedian Terry Joyce.
The evening will also include a 5
course dinner, games and raffle.

We are using the evening as an
opportunity to raise funds for a
very worthwhile cause, The
National Deaf Children’s Society
(www.ndcs.org.uk)

I would just like to say a MASSIVE THANK YOU!!!! to Trev, Pat and Eric Gates for helping us raise £830 towards our Great North Run contribution to the National Deaf Childrens Society. Thank you to the staff who very kindy donated prizes and gave money on the night as well, and to my mam Karen Robinson who is an amazing chef and cooked yet another beautiful meal on the night.

Local Boxing

We are supporting Houghton and District Amature Boxing Club.

Callum Lynn and Tony pictured displaying two trophies.

We have been providing clothing ,trophies and our function room

for event raising.

We have joined forces with our
neighbouring farm in
Houghton-le-Spring, to rear some
goats for us – for our new curries. You
will be able to find a goat curry on our
menu.

They have also hand-reared orphaned
lambs. When sheep have too many
lambs they cannot feed them so they
look for farms to hand-rear them, so
these animals have the best
free-range lives.
The lamb will also be on our menu at
the end of February.
This is sustainable produce that is
locally sourced, locally grown and
locally eaten.
